Cherry Alley Cafe - Lewisburg 21 N. 3rd St. 570.524.1234

Sources of some of their food include area farms which are stated on their website. Fri and Sat eve during the school year there are rotating international meals and live entertainment. Hours and types of food vary so call ahead or check website. This is a small restaurant filled with locals. Handicap access via a ramp is in rear of building.

 

Espresso Yourself Cafe - Newport 8 South 2nd Street 717.567.9882

A regional gem. Organic eggs and milk as well as other organic items. Ice cream is delicious, from a regional creamery. The restaurant supports area farmers. Vegetarian menu available. Glass tabletops enable a clean eating surface. Tiny bathroom with low toilet seat. WiFi. Fine place to eat after hiking Little Buffalo State Park. Consider visiting the Perry County Council of the Arts Gallery across the street. Great place to buy gifts. Glass, pottery, photos, woven baskets, jewelry, metal, etc. on display for purchase. Most items made by area artists. Closed Sun. and Mon. If you live north of Newport, consider going home via 322E to 15N to avoid crossing four lanes of traffic at intersection of 15 and 34, only adds about 8 extra miles.

 

Elk Creek Cafe + Aleworks - Millheim 100 S. Main St. (SR 45) 814.349.8850

The emphasis is local sustainable food and made from scratch. There is live entertainment most weekends (with cover charge starting at 7 PM) and ale brewed on site. The solid cherry and iron bar seats are lovely and comfortable for any body shape.  In addition to the fine wooden bar there are tables in the front and rear of the restaurant. Elk Creek strives to be a Zero Waste operation. Further details on their website, including food sources and current menu. Park on the street or in the public parking lot on the south side of SR 45. To reach public lot turn south at the traffic light and left into Race Alley then left into lot. You can also access the lot from SR 45 but limited visibility when you exit this way. The restaurant is on the corner at the light, the only light in town. Open Wed - Sun with varying hours and limited menu.

 

Kathy's Cafe - Hughesville  21 S. Main St 570.584.5356

Some organic items on the menu. Fresh in season pumpkin pie, veggie wraps, Portobella mushroom sandwiches. Produce obtained locally when possible. Yes, they serve meat and fish too. The atmosphere is very casual. If you like the 60's era you'll love the old albums and posters on the walls and the chrome furniture. Their straws and take-out containers are compostable. Sun 8 - 2, Closed Mon. Tues. 8 - 2, Wed - Fri 8 - 8, Sat. 8 - 3. Great place to stop after hiking the end of the Loyalsock Trail.

Elegant gourmet restaurant serving some organic food in a restored Victorian mansion. Local produce sources stated at link. The Peter Herdic Inn is located next door in another restored Victorian mansion.
